The language of a last will and testament written under the Hungarian substantive law

In accordance with the Hungarian Civil Code, a written private last will and testament may be validly written in a language that the testator understands and which they can write, in the case of a last will written by their own hands, or read, in the case of a last will written by someone else.

Therefore, in the event that a foreign citizen writes a last will and testament or has a last will and testament written in Hungary, and the last will and testament is written in the Hungarian language, but the testator does not have adequate knowledge of the Hungarian language, then this last will and testament is null and void.
